Welcome

Allendale East Area School provides a balanced and broad curriculum, in line with the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework for students from Reception to Year 10, and the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in Year 11 and 12. Our teaching and learning program incorporates English, Mathematics, Science, Society and Environment, Health and Physical Education, The Arts, Technology, Enterprise Education, Vocational Education and Training Courses, Languages Other than English (Language and Cultural Studies) and Australian School Based Apprenticeships.

We emphasize enterprising skills and attitudes, so that our students will be resourceful, energetic, independent and responsible, show initiative, resiliency and adaptability. We provide teaching and learning in a supportive and enterprising environment.

We provide:

  • Rural schooling with links to rural industries and community life in a rural setting.
  • The core skills in Numeracy and Literacy are explicitly taught, and support given to students to attain a satisfactory achievement in these areas.
  • A range of career possibilities, made possible through a clear focus on key competencies, career education, course counselling, traditional and VET (Vocational Educational Training) courses and through Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA).
  • A focus on coordinating and delivering SACE accredited, Agriculture, Information Technology, Multi Media and Hospitality courses. We also offer traditional SACE courses, as a total package in Senior Secondary education. We work cooperatively with other schools and businesses in the district, so that our students can also access other VET courses and ASBA?s.
  • An emphasis on Environmental studies, within the eight areas of study, at all year levels in the school, Laptop computers are available for student use in classrooms.
  • An emphasis on an Information Technology rich curriculum, within all areas of study throughout the school.
  • A committed and caring staff in a small school (220 students) environment.
  • A family atmosphere, with students from Kindergarten to Year 12 on the same campus, working cooperatively.
  • Senior Staff involvement in setting an atmosphere of student and teacher care and effort. This means that the follow up for behaviour management issues, and a personal involvement with students in need of support, or with specific talents, is part of the day to day working of a school.
  • A school structure which supports students in Year Reception to Year 12 by grouping them in Junior School (R-5), a Middle Schooling environment (Years 6 ? 9) and a Senior school (Years 10 ? 12), where they have support, access to specialist teachers and appropriate teaching strategies across all areas of schooling.
